Why Patients Choose Us in the Harley Street Area

Real Roots in the Harley Street Medical District

Wimpole Street and Harley Street function as one medical neighbourhood. Two parallel streets, a matter of metres apart, joined by short cross-streets every couple of minutes’ walk — and together they form the world’s most concentrated cluster of specialist private healthcare. When patients search for a private audiologist on Harley Street, they are looking for the standard of care this district has stood for since the mid-nineteenth century. Our clinic is part of that fabric — we just happen to sit on the next road along.

Our Chief of Audiology, Nick Clive, practised for more than 16 years as a Chief of Audiology on Harley Street itself before joining VIP Hearing Solutions. Our Deputy Chief, Mo Khan, has worked for the best part of a decade in the Harley Street medical district. The team’s clinical roots in this area are genuine — not borrowed from a postcode.

What sets us apart from the large high-street chains that also list Harley Street addresses is genuine independence. We don’t work for manufacturers, we work for you. We fit from all seven of the world’s leading hearing aid brands — Phonak, Starkey, Oticon, Widex, ReSound, Unitron and Signia — and your audiologist has no commercial reason to recommend one brand over another. Your recommendation is based purely on your hearing, your lifestyle and your ears.

  • 16+ years on Harley Street — Nick Clive’s clinical pedigree.
  • Fully independent — all 7 brands, no manufacturer incentives.
  • HCPC-registered team — every clinician credentialed and regulated.

Transparent, Honest Pricing

How Much Do Hearing Aids Cost in Harley Street?

Premium private hearing aids at VIP Hearing Solutions start from £3,295 per pair. That price is for a complete, bespoke fitting by an expert HCPC-registered audiologist — not just the devices themselves. We never quote tier-by-tier price ladders because the right hearing aid for you depends on your hearing, your lifestyle and your ears, not a price band on a page. The figure below is your starting point.

Premium hearing aids · From · per pair

£3,295

Includes a complete bespoke fitting by a HCPC-registered audiologist, a personalised VIP aftercare package, and a free, no-obligation 30-day home trial.

  • Microsuction ear wax removal — gentle, water-free, under direct vision From £80
  • Private hearing test — diagnostic assessment with a HCPC-registered audiologist On enquiry
  • Tinnitus consultation — structured assessment + management plan On enquiry
  • Custom hearing protection — moulded for musicians, work, sleep, swimming On enquiry

Why no price ladder? Because we don’t work for manufacturers, we work for you — so a price ladder pretending the “premium tier” is always best would misrepresent how we actually recommend. Your audiologist will explain exactly which technology level suits your hearing and why, with no upsell. See our full hearing aid prices page for more on what’s included.

No-Pressure, No-Risk Hearing Aid Trial

Try Your New Hearing Aids For 30 Days — Free

Hearing aids only really tell you what they can do once they are out in the world. A clinic room is too quiet, too controlled. That is why every hearing aid fitting at VIP Hearing Solutions includes a free, no-obligation 30-day home trial.

Take them to work. Wear them at a dinner party. Try them in the car, in your kitchen, in a noisy café. If they are not transforming your hearing in the situations you actually live in, we will adjust them — and if they still are not right after that, you simply hand them back. There is no obligation, no pressure and no fine print.

  1. Bespoke fitting on Wimpole Street We programme your hearing aids to your audiogram and your lifestyle, on the day.
  2. Live with them for 30 days Wear them everywhere you normally go. Note what works and what doesn’t.
  3. Fine-tune at follow-up We adjust the programming based on your real-world feedback, not a clinic guess.
  4. Keep them, or hand them back If they are right, they are yours. If not, return them — no charge, no questions.

In the Medical District

The World’s Most Respected Private Healthcare Neighbourhood

The cluster of streets around Harley Street and Wimpole Street has been the home of specialist private medicine in the UK since the mid-nineteenth century. The Royal Society of Medicine was founded on Wimpole Street in 1912. Harley Street itself has been synonymous with specialist expertise for over 150 years — and today the district is home to several hundred specialist practices, from neurology to oncology to ophthalmology, alongside world-class diagnostic imaging centres and surgical suites.

Our clinic on Wimpole Street is part of that tradition: a medical-grade setting staffed by genuinely credentialed experts, for patients who understand that hearing is a health matter and want it treated as one. We are quieter than Harley Street itself — exactly the kind of discreet consulting room serious patients prefer.

Harley Street Hearing Care — Frequently Asked Questions

Is VIP Hearing Solutions actually on Harley Street?

Our clinic is at 57a Wimpole Street, London W1G 8YP — the road that runs immediately parallel to Harley Street, around a 30-second walk away through any of the short cross-streets that link them. The two streets sit inside the same Harley Street medical district and share the same tube stations: Bond Street, Regent’s Park and Great Portland Street. Many of our patients combine an appointment with us with a consultation on Harley Street itself. To book, call 020 3075 3190.

Where exactly is your Harley Street clinic?

VIP Hearing Solutions is at 57a Wimpole Street, London W1G 8YP. From Harley Street, walk through Weymouth Street, New Cavendish Street or Devonshire Street and you will be on Wimpole Street within roughly 30 seconds. We are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with same-day appointments available where possible. Use the map further up this page for a verified Google pin.

How much do private hearing aids cost in the Harley Street area?

Premium private hearing aids at VIP Hearing Solutions start from £3,295 per pair. That price covers a full bespoke fitting by a HCPC-registered audiologist, a personalised VIP aftercare package and a free, no-obligation 30-day home trial. Because we are genuinely independent — not tied to any single manufacturer — we fit from all seven of the leading brands and recommend purely on the basis of what suits your hearing and your budget. See our hearing aid prices page for more.

How much is a private hearing test on Harley Street?

For the cost of a private hearing test at our Wimpole Street clinic, call 020 3075 3190 — pricing depends on whether you need a screening, a full diagnostic assessment, or a specialist workup (for example following ENT referral), and we will explain the appropriate option clearly before you book. Our Brentwood clinic offers a free full hearing test as a local differentiator, but in the Harley Street area, the assessment is paid.

How much is ear wax removal on Harley Street?

Microsuction ear wax removal at our Wimpole Street clinic in the Harley Street medical district costs from £80. The appointment includes a full look in both ears with a HCPC-registered audiologist and removal of any wax found — no referral needed.

Do you offer ear syringing on Harley Street?

No — we use microsuction exclusively, not ear syringing. Microsuction is the modern, water-free method now recommended by audiologists and ENT specialists: wax is removed under direct vision with fine suction, so the audiologist can see exactly what they are doing throughout. It is gentler, more precise and suitable for almost everyone — including patients with a perforated eardrum or a history of ear surgery, for whom water-based ear syringing is not advised. For most patients in the Harley Street area, microsuction is what you want.

Who is the best private audiologist on Harley Street?

We won’t name a single “best” — what matters is finding an audiologist who is genuinely independent, fully HCPC-registered and willing to take the time to understand your hearing properly. The VIP Hearing Solutions team in the Harley Street medical district is led by Nick Clive (Chief of Audiology; more than 16 years as Chief of Audiology on Harley Street itself, HCPC HAD00170) and Mo Khan (Deputy Chief; the best part of a decade in the Harley Street medical district, HCPC HAD03074), with Tim Johnson and Agnieszka Blasiak also seeing patients at the Wimpole Street clinic.

Can I see a private audiologist on Harley Street today?

Often, yes. We keep clinic time aside for same-day appointments wherever possible, and otherwise we will see you within the same week. Call our Wimpole Street clinic on 020 3075 3190 first thing and we will tell you what is available today. No GP referral is needed.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No. You can book a private appointment with us directly, without a GP or specialist referral. (If you are coming via an ENT consultant for audiology diagnostics through insurance, the referral simply makes the insurance side easier — it is not required to be a patient.) Call 020 3075 3190 or email info@viphearingsolutions.co.uk.

Which hearing aid brands can I choose from?

We fit from all seven of the world’s leading hearing aid manufacturers — Phonak, Starkey, Oticon, Widex, ReSound, Unitron and Signia. We don’t work for manufacturers, we work for you, so our recommendation is based purely on what suits your hearing, your lifestyle and your budget. Every fitting includes a free 30-day home trial. Explore hearing aids in London or our full range of hearing aids.

Do you fit invisible hearing aids?

Yes — many of the hearing aids we fit are remarkably discreet. Options range from in-the-canal (ITC) styles through to completely-in-canal (CIC) and invisible-in-canal (IIC) devices that sit deep enough in the ear canal to be virtually unseen. We also fit Phonak Lyric, an extended-wear hearing aid worn around the clock for months at a time. Read more about invisible hearing aids.

Do you offer a free trial of hearing aids?

Yes. Every hearing aid fitting at VIP Hearing Solutions includes a free, no-obligation 30-day home trial. You wear the hearing aids in your real day-to-day life — at work, at home, in noisy restaurants, in the car — and we fine-tune them at a follow-up based on what you experienced. If they are not right after that, you simply hand them back, with no charge.

Do you accept private medical insurance for appointments?

Yes — at our London (Wimpole Street) clinic we accept private medical insurance for consultations and diagnostic audiology testing (hearing tests, tympanometry and other audiology assessments). The typical route is a referral from an ENT consultant, after which we carry out the testing and bill the insurer directly. UK insurers generally cover testing but not the hearing aids themselves — your audiologist will explain what is covered for you. See our insurance page for more.

What is the difference between Harley Street and Wimpole Street?

They are two parallel streets in Marylebone, W1, running north-to-south through the same specialist medical district. Harley Street is the better-known name — it became synonymous with private specialist medicine in the nineteenth century — but Wimpole Street has the same medical pedigree (the Royal Society of Medicine was founded here in 1912) and the same calibre of consulting practices. For patients, the practical difference is small: same district, same tube stations, same medical-grade settings — but Wimpole Street is a little quieter and more discreet.

What hearing conditions can you help with?

We see adult patients across the full range of audiology — age-related hearing loss, noise-induced hearing loss, asymmetric hearing loss, sudden hearing changes, tinnitus, recurrent ear wax build-up, hyperacusis and balance-related referrals. We fit hearing aids of every style (BTE, RIC, ITC, IIC, and extended-wear Lyric), supply custom hearing protection, and care for existing hearing aid users with servicing and aftercare. We do not see paediatric patients or offer home visits — for those we can point you to an appropriate alternative.

Do you treat tinnitus on Harley Street?

Yes. We run a structured tinnitus clinic from our Wimpole Street consulting rooms, in the heart of the Harley Street medical district. Our audiologists assess what is driving your tinnitus, check for any underlying hearing loss, and build a personalised management plan drawing on sound therapy, hearing-aid-based masking and proven retraining approaches. There is no quick cure for tinnitus, but the right plan can dramatically reduce how intrusive it feels.

Where can I park near your Harley Street area clinic?

Paid on-street parking runs the length of Wimpole Street and the surrounding Marylebone streets — but central W1 parking is limited and metered. For most patients the tube is the simpler option: Bond Street is around 5 minutes’ walk, Regent’s Park around 7, and Great Portland Street around 8. Marylebone rail station and Baker Street are both within reasonable walking distance as well.
