Please — Don't Use Cotton Buds In Your Ears
Cotton buds are one of the most common causes of impacted wax we see. They push wax deeper into the canal, where it hardens against the eardrum and becomes much harder to remove. They can also scratch the canal lining and, in rare cases, perforate the eardrum.
The ear canal is largely self-cleaning. If you feel a blockage, leave it alone and book a microsuction appointment. We'll have you sorted in 15 to 30 minutes.

Why is Brentwood £70 when London and Eastcote are £80?
The Brentwood market for hearing care has different pricing dynamics from central London, and we've kept the Brentwood microsuction price at £70 to stay competitive locally. The clinical standard and aftercare are identical to our London (£80) and Eastcote (£80) clinics.
Why does the price include a free follow-up?
Because occasionally — particularly with hard, impacted wax — a second visit after a few days of softening drops gives a better, cleaner result. We'd rather do the job properly than rush it, so the second visit is included.
How is microsuction different from ear syringing?
Syringing uses pressurised water — uncomfortable, risks water onto a perforated eardrum. Microsuction is dry, performed under direct microscope vision, and considered the gold standard.
Should I use olive oil before my appointment?
Yes — a few drops in the affected ear for 3–5 nights softens wax and makes microsuction faster and more likely to clear it in one go.
Can ear wax cause hearing loss?
Yes — one of the most common causes of sudden mild-to-moderate hearing loss. Once impacted wax is removed, hearing returns to normal.
Can ear wax cause tinnitus?
Yes — clearing impacted wax often clears tinnitus too.
Will microsuction help my hearing?
If your hearing has dropped because of wax, yes — often dramatically and immediately. If your hearing is still muffled after wax removal, we'll recommend a free hearing test.
Can I have microsuction with a history of ear surgery?
