Our Brentwood Heritage
Nearly 30 Years Of Hearing Care For Brentwood
Our Brentwood clinic has cared for this community's hearing since 1997 — for nearly three decades — formerly as County Hearing Care, now as VIP Hearing Solutions. The name on the door has changed; the unhurried, independent, expert care has not.
Three generations of Brentwood families have come to us for hearing tests, hearing aids and microsuction. The continuity matters: when you walk in for your hearing test, you walk into a clinic that has built its reputation slowly, patient by patient, over the better part of three decades.

Frequently asked questions
Brentwood Free Hearing Test — Your Questions Answered
Is the free hearing test really free?
Yes — entirely. There is no fee, no obligation to book anything else, and no sales pressure during or after the appointment. The test is genuinely free because we've been part of the Brentwood community for nearly 30 years and we want everyone in the area to be able to find out exactly where their hearing stands without a financial barrier.
What does the free hearing test include?
Discussion of your hearing history, an otoscopic ear health check, a full set of pure-tone audiometry tests, an eardrum examination, a clear explanation of your audiogram and personalised no-pressure recommendations.
How long does a hearing test take?
Allow around an hour for your appointment.
Will I get my results the same day?
Yes. Your audiologist explains your results during the appointment and gives you personalised recommendations the same day.
Do I need a GP referral for a hearing test?
No. Book directly as a private patient. If we find anything during the appointment that warrants ENT input we refer you on directly.
Will you try to sell me hearing aids?
No. We don't work for manufacturers, we work for you. If your test shows that hearing aids would genuinely help, we'll explain why and walk you through the options across all seven leading brands. If hearing aids wouldn't help, we'll tell you that too. Many of our Brentwood patients come in for a free hearing test, get an honest answer that their hearing is fine, and leave — and that's exactly how it should work.
What if you find wax during my appointment?
We'll discuss it. Wax blocking the canal can affect both the test and your day-to-day hearing, so we'll usually recommend microsuction ear wax removal (£70 at our Brentwood clinic) — then either test you the same day if time allows, or rebook you for free.
I have tinnitus — can the hearing test help?
Yes. A full hearing test is the first step in understanding tinnitus. For dedicated tinnitus management see our Brentwood tinnitus clinic — £100, including hearing test.
How do I know if I need a hearing test?
Common signs: asking people to repeat themselves, struggling in noisy environments, TV volume too low for others, ringing in the ears, or family noticing your hearing before you do.
What if my hearing test shows I need hearing aids?
Hearing aids at VIP start from £3,295 per pair for premium devices, and include a free, no-obligation 30-day home trial plus a VIP Clinical Care aftercare package (2-, 3- or 5-year options). See hearing aids in Brentwood.
Can my private medical insurance cover the hearing test?
Yes — the major UK insurers generally cover diagnostic audiology testing on the back of an ENT referral. Insurance does not cover hearing aids themselves.
Is this the same clinic as County Hearing Care?
Yes — it's the same Brentwood clinic, now operating under VIP Hearing Solutions. We've cared for Brentwood's hearing since 1997, formerly as County Hearing Care, now as VIP. The local team, the unhurried approach and the long-term patient relationships have stayed the same. See our County Hearing Care transition page.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
We aim to offer a same-day appointment where possible — and where not, within the same week. Call 01277 264938 or email brentwood@viphearingsolutions.co.uk.
