Oticon announced Oticon Reveal in August 2026. It is a new hearing aid on a new platform, so if you already wear Oticon Intent, the question is not how to update it, but whether changing hearing aids is worth it for you.
This guide sets out what Oticon says Reveal does differently, what Oticon actually compared it with, and who I think should look at it now. Every figure below is Oticon’s own, with the comparison it was measured against.
How Is Oticon Reveal Different from Oticon Intent?
Oticon Reveal is a separate, new hearing aid rather than a newer Intent. It runs what Oticon describes as a Dual AI system: a Speech AI that picks out voices and a Context AI that keeps the sounds around you in balance. Oticon compares Reveal directly with Intent in two ways, a preference study and streaming; its other headline figures are measured against different things.
Oticon builds its hearing aids around BrainHearing, the idea that you hear with your brain, not just your ears. In Reveal, Oticon says two deep neural networks run at the same time: Speech AI checks for speech every 2 milliseconds, and Context AI keeps the meaningful sounds around you in balance with it. What Oticon compared with Oticon Intent
- Preference. In Oticon’s own study, 94% of participants preferred Oticon Reveal to Oticon Intent.
- Streaming. Oticon measures 53% better streaming stability and up to 32% more range than Oticon Intent, across Bluetooth Low Energy protocols.
What Oticon measured against something else
- Wind and handling noise. Oticon says Wind & Handling Stabilizer 2.0, on Oticon Reveal 1 and 2, reduces wind and handling noise by up to 40 dB, up to 10 dB more than its own first generation.
Should You Upgrade if You Already Wear Oticon Intent?
Not necessarily. Your Oticon Intent keeps working exactly as it does today, and because Reveal is a separate hearing aid, an Intent cannot be upgraded to it: changing means new hearing aids. The reasons to look at Reveal are Oticon's Dual AI approach to voices and surroundings and its steadier streaming compared with Intent, on Oticon's figures. Worth trying now if:
- you still find groups and restaurants hard, and want to hear whether Reveal’s balance of voices and surroundings suits you;
- Bluetooth streaming drop-outs bother you, where Oticon measures 53% better stability than Oticon Intent;
- you spend a lot of time outdoors in wind, where Oticon Reveal 1 and 2 have Oticon’s Wind & Handling Stabilizer 2.0.
Fine to wait if:
- you are happy with how you hear in noise;
- streaming works well for you;
- you would rather wait for independent evidence.

Who Is Oticon Reveal For?
Oticon Reveal suits people who want to try Oticon's Dual AI approach, and every level runs it. For happy Intent wearers it is worth hearing, not urgent. If you wear an older Oticon or another brand, or you are new to hearing aids, a hearing test and a 30-day home trial settle it.
- You wear an older Oticon model. Oticon describes Reveal as its first hearing aid with a Dual AI system, so no earlier Oticon model has it. Your hearing may also have changed since your last fitting, which is why we start with a hearing test.
- You still struggle in groups, restaurants or wind. We recommend Oticon Reveal 1. Oticon’s Technical Data puts 4D Sensor technology and Wind & Handling Stabilizer 2.0 on Oticon Reveal 1 and 2 only. The four Oticon Reveal levels are compared on our Reveal page.
- You rely on hearing loops. Oticon Reveal has a telecoil, so it works with installed loop systems, and it receives Auracast broadcasts in venues that have an Auracast transmitter.
- You have hearing loss in one ear that a hearing aid cannot help. Oticon CROS RE is made for this, and Oticon lists it as working with Reveal as well as Intent. Bring your current devices when you come in and we will check how they pair.
