What the technology does, in Phonak’s words and with Phonak’s evidence labelled as such.
Phonak describes HYPERSONIC as its AI chip. It runs Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0, which Phonak says separates speech from noise in real time, for speech arriving from any direction.
In a Phonak study of 27 experienced adult wearers, people were twice as likely to understand every word with Spheric Speech Clarity on than off (Wright et al., 2024, Phonak Field Study News, manufacturer research). That study used the first-generation Sphere; Phonak says version 3.0 keeps the same speech-in-noise performance.
Spheric Speech Clarity works on speech from this direction, in Phonak’s words: the front.
In Phonak’s mannequin measurement the benefit held for speech from all five tested directions, 0° to 180°, at maximum strength (Phonak Insight, 2026).
AutoSense OS AI 8.0 runs on every EON model and level. Phonak describes it as using machine learning to identify and adjust to your sound environment, so programmes change automatically as your surroundings change. It stays in the loud-noise programme through brief lulls rather than switching back and forth (Preuss and Müller, 2026, Phonak Insight).
At Premium (E90) and Advanced (E70) it switches into the Spheric Speech in Loud Noise programme automatically; at Standard (E50) that programme is one you select yourself.
A sealed design that helps prevent earwax entering the receiver while letting sound through, so there are no separate wax filters to change. Wipe daily with a soft, dry cloth and replace the dome about every three months, or sooner if your audiologist advises.
Charger RIC E for cable charging, and ChargerGo RIC I E with a built-in battery for up to three full recharges away from a socket. A full charge takes about 2.5 hours (Phonak product information).
Water and dust resistant, not waterproof. Phonak’s guide says remove them before swimming, showering or bathing, and dry them before charging.

Phonak has made its Sphere technology smaller without changing what it does. Phonak’s own paper says Audéo EON Sphere keeps the speech-in-noise performance of the previous Sphere generation, so the case for EON rests on the body: Phonak states it is 25% smaller and 20% lighter, and the HYPERSONIC chip runs Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 using 37% less energy than the previous generation. For patients who want a discreet aid, that is the point.
Three things I will be watching at our fittings. First, battery: Phonak quotes up to 38 hours on a full charge, and its datasheet expects around 22 hours of typical use with streaming and time in noise, which is the figure I would plan around. Second, care: EasyGuard domes need no separate wax filters, which removes a common reason patients come back to us. Third, connectivity: Auracast broadcast audio only helps in venues that have installed it, so I will be honest about where it works today.
My advice is the same for every new model. Bring your lifestyle, not just your audiogram. We will programme EON to your hearing and let you live with it for 30 days at home before you decide.

Yes. Auracast broadcast audio streams sound straight to your hearing aids in venues that have installed Auracast transmitters, such as some theatres, museums, lecture halls and gyms. You join a broadcast by scanning the venue’s QR code in the myPhonak app. Auracast is still being rolled out in the UK, so check whether a venue offers it. EON has no telecoil, so Auracast is Phonak’s venue solution where it is installed.
EON connects to virtually any Bluetooth enabled phone to stream calls, music and audio. Calls are hands-free: the hearing aids’ own microphones pick up your voice, and a double-tap on the top of your ear answers or ends a call. You can connect two devices at once and keep up to eight paired. The myPhonak app pairs the aids and adjusts settings, and your audiologist sets it up with you.
