The short version

ReSound Sensia at a Glance

ReSound Sensia is ReSound’s new premium hearing aid family, announced in August 2026. ReSound describes it as the first of its hearing aids to work out what you want to hear by itself: AcoustIQ senses the room, four microphones focus on the person you are facing, and a deep neural network softens the noise, automatically on the Sensia 9 microRIE. VIP Hearing Solutions fits Sensia in London, Eastcote and Brentwood, with ReSound Sensia models from £3,295 per pair.

  • Clarity

Intelligent All-Around: AcoustIQ reads the room, four microphones focus on the person in front of you and a deep neural network softens the noise, all engaging by themselves.

How it works

Hear the Voice You Want to Hear

ReSound calls the whole idea Intelligent All-Around: three technologies that sense, focus and engage by themselves.‡ Here is what each one does, in ReSound’s own description.

01

Sense

AcoustIQ reads the room

AcoustIQ listens to the room in real time: how loud it is, where the speech is and how much noise sits around it. ReSound describes it as the part of Sensia that works out what you want to hear, then chooses the help to match.

It is built not to mistake background music for the thing you came to hear. Music stays a programme you choose, so the classifier is never confused by it. In quiet, both aids stay open for awareness; the strongest processing waits until speech in noise has been confirmed for about a minute, so nothing lurches.

“We want the person to decide what they want to hear, rather than the hearing aid deciding.”Laurel Christensen, Chief Audiology Officer, GN

02

Focus

Four microphones, one beam

Four microphones across the pair work as one, forming a beam that faces the way you face. ReSound calls it Clear Focus: you follow a conversation simply by looking at the person.

In moderate noise a “Better Ear” step puts the beam on the noisier side only. In loud noise with speech in front, both aids focus. Low frequencies stay open, the middle gets the narrow beam and the highs a broader one, so the change never jars.

03

Engage

The deep neural network softens the noise

Intelligent Noise Tracker is ReSound’s deep neural network. It keeps speech forward and softens what is behind and beside the speaker. On the Sensia 9 microRIE it engages by itself as part of Intelligent All-Around. On the Sensia 7 microRIE the same network is there, as a programme you switch on with a tap.

In GN’s own tests with Hörzentrum Oldenburg, most listeners heard the person in front of them more clearly with this combined focus and denoising than with another premium brand’s DNN system.†

The RIE 61, RIE 62 and the custom styles have no deep neural network; on levels 9 and 7 they use the four-microphone Clear Focus instead.

Both recordings are ReSound’s, published with the Sensia launch; the switch simply changes which one you hear. The processing it demonstrates engages automatically on the Sensia 9 microRIE and as a programme on the Sensia 7 microRIE.‡

The honest comparison

What Is New Since ReSound Vivia

  • Sensia builds on the same chip platform as ReSound Vivia, including the dedicated DNN chip. ReSound’s engineers say the network itself is largely unchanged; what is new is the AcoustIQ steering that decides how and when it engages.
  • On Vivia the deep neural network lived in a programme you switched on. On the Sensia 9 microRIE, AcoustIQ engages it by itself.
  • The Sensia 7 microRIE brings the DNN to a lower tier than Vivia offered it, as a programme you switch on.
  • ReSound Vivia stays in ReSound’s UK range. No published study compares how the two sound, so we will not claim that one hears better than the other.

Why we usually recommend Sensia 9

We usually recommend the Sensia 9 microRIE: it is the only Sensia with the automatic experience, and it carries the fullest noise and wind settings. Your audiologist confirms the right level with you from your hearing test and the places where you struggle most.

Included at every level: Spatial Sense, DFS Ultra III with Music Mode, Tinnitus Sound Generator, Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast broadcast audio, hands-free calls on compatible phones, the ReSound Smart 3D app, ReSound Assist remote fine-tuning where your audiologist offers it, and four programmes.

No prices per level: ReSound Sensia models from £3,295 per pair, confirmed at your consultation.

Connected All Day

  • Bluetooth LE Audio streaming from compatible phones and devices; phones need Bluetooth 5.3 or later.
  • Auracast broadcast audio in venues equipped with an Auracast transmitter. The Auracast Assistant in the ReSound Smart 3D app finds and joins the stream.
  • Hands-free calls on iPhone 11 or later and listed iPads with iOS or iPadOS 15.3 or later, and on compatible Android devices.§ Not on the CIC or the battery ITC.
  • TapControl on the microRIE: a double tap on the ear answers or ends a call on compatible phones. The push button changes programme and volume.
  • The ReSound Smart 3D app: volume, programmes, sound preferences, battery status, Sound Enhancer on Sensia 9, the Auracast Assistant and software updates.
  • ReSound Assist remote fine-tuning and ReSound Assist Live video appointments, where your audiologist offers them.
  • Accessories: TV-Streamer+, Multi-Mic+, Micro Mic, Phone Clip+ and the Remote Control.

Charged for the Day

The rechargeable styles give up to 24 hours of use on one charge, ReSound’s typical figure including several hours of streaming, and up to 30 hours with no streaming.* ReSound says that figure holds with the deep neural network engaging automatically.

Charging is inductive: the hearing aids simply drop into place, no connectors to line up, and they can stay in the charger overnight. ReSound’s portable charger carries its own power bank for charging away from a socket, and the custom styles charge in a charger with made-to-measure inserts.

Prefer batteries? The RIE 61 and ITC 312 take a size 312, the RIE 62 a size 13 and the CIC a size 10A.

Built for Every Day

  • IP68 rated

A protective nanocoating on every part. Resistant to water and dust, not waterproof: remove them before swimming or showering, and dry them before charging.

  • Filters you change at home

The microphone filters are exchangeable, so a blocked filter is a two-minute job rather than a trip to the clinic.

  • Tinnitus Sound Generator

Every level and style offers a range of sounds your audiologist can set up as part of tinnitus management. Tinnitus care at VIP.

  • Simple care

Wipe daily with a soft dry cloth. Wax filters when the sound weakens, typically every one to three months; domes every two to three months.

CROS and Bimodal

The ReSound Sensia CROS Transmitter sends sound from an ear that cannot be aided to a Sensia microRIE on the better ear, so you hear from both sides. It is rechargeable, with ReSound quoting 16 hours of typical use in a CROS or BiCROS fitting, and it pairs with the rechargeable microRIE.

Bimodal Sensia versions work alongside a Cochlear Nucleus sound processor on the other ear, with one app and one remote control across both.

We confirm your CROS or bimodal quote at your consultation.

ReSound has done what I have wanted a manufacturer to do for years: make the help in noise switch itself on. On the Sensia 9 microRIE, AcoustIQ reads the room, four microphones across the pair focus on the person you are facing and the deep neural network softens what sits behind and beside them, without a tap in the app.

Be clear about where that lives. The Sensia 7 microRIE has the same denoiser as a programme you switch on, and the RIE 61, RIE 62 and the custom styles use ReSound’s four-microphone Clear Focus instead. Sensia runs on the same chip platform as Vivia, so if you already wear Vivia and are happy, the question is whether the automatic steering is worth the change, and I will tell you honestly at a Sensia review.

Three things I will watch: how quickly the automatic beam settles in a restaurant, how ReSound’s up to 24 hours holds with the denoiser working, and how the Auracast Assistant behaves in venues with a transmitter. Bring your lifestyle, not just your audiogram. We will choose the level and style together, and you can live with Sensia for 30 days at home before you decide.

ReSound Sensia: Your Questions Answered

What is Intelligent All-Around?

Intelligent All-Around is ReSound’s name for three technologies working together by themselves: AcoustIQ senses the room, four microphones across the pair focus on the person you are facing, and a deep neural network softens the noise around them. ReSound’s own footnote applies: it is available at technology level 9 in the microRIE style.

Which ReSound Sensia actually has the automatic AI?

Only the Sensia 9 microRIE has Intelligent All-Around, where the noise help engages by itself. The Sensia 7 microRIE has the same deep neural network, but as a programme you switch on. The RIE 61, RIE 62 and the custom ITE, ITC and CIC styles have no deep neural network; on levels 9 and 7 they use the four-microphone Clear Focus instead.

Is ReSound Sensia a new version of Vivia?

Sensia builds on the same chip platform as ReSound Vivia, including the dedicated DNN chip. What is new is the AcoustIQ steering that makes the noise help automatic on the Sensia 9 microRIE, and Sensia 7 brings the DNN to a lower tier as a programme. Vivia stays in ReSound’s range, and no published study compares how the two sound.

How much do ReSound Sensia hearing aids cost in the UK?

ReSound Sensia hearing aids cost from £3,295 per pair at VIP Hearing Solutions. That includes your hearing assessment, a bespoke fitting by a HCPC-registered audiologist, a free, no-obligation 30-day home trial and aftercare. Your quote depends on the level and style you choose together with your audiologist, and we confirm it at your consultation. 0% interest-free finance is available, subject to status.

Can VIP Hearing Solutions fit ReSound Sensia?

Yes. We fit ReSound Sensia at all three of our clinics, in London, Eastcote and Brentwood. Book a Sensia trial and a HCPC-registered audiologist will test your hearing, talk through the levels and styles with you, programme the aids to your hearing and send you home with them for a free 30-day trial.

How long does the Sensia battery last, and how does it charge?

ReSound quotes up to 24 hours of use on one charge, its typical figure including several hours of streaming, and up to 30 hours with no streaming. Real use time depends on how you use them. Charging is inductive: the aids drop into the charger and can stay there overnight. The RIE 61, RIE 62, ITC 312 and CIC use disposable batteries instead.

Does Sensia work with Auracast and hearing loops?

Sensia receives Auracast broadcast audio in venues equipped with an Auracast transmitter, joined through the Auracast Assistant in the ReSound Smart 3D app, on every style except the non-wireless CIC. For hearing loops, the RIE 62 is the only Sensia model with a telecoil; the microRIE and the custom styles use the Multi-Mic+ accessory instead.

Will Sensia work with my iPhone or Android phone?

Sensia streams by Bluetooth LE Audio from compatible iPhones and Android phones with Bluetooth 5.3 or later. Hands-free calls work on iPhone 11 or later and listed iPads with iOS or iPadOS 15.3 or later, and on compatible Android devices; they are not available on the CIC or the battery ITC. A double tap on the ear answers a call on the microRIE.

Which Sensia level and style should I choose?

We usually recommend the Sensia 9 microRIE: it is the only Sensia with the automatic Intelligent All-Around experience. Sensia 7 keeps the deep neural network as a programme you switch on; Sensia 5 and 4 have no DNN. The RIE 62 adds a telecoil, the custom styles sit in the ear, and the CIC is non-wireless. Your audiologist chooses the level and style with you from your hearing test and your lifestyle.

Can I try ReSound Sensia before I buy?

Yes. Every hearing aid fitting at VIP Hearing Solutions includes a free, no-obligation 30-day home trial, at all three clinics. We fit and programme Sensia to your hearing, you wear it in your own life for 30 days, and if it is not right you say so. The trial can also include a 30-day money-back guarantee. Book your Sensia trial in London, Eastcote or Brentwood.

★★★★★
At the risk of subtly changing the company’s branding, I would like to say I was Very ImPressed by the service I received this week. A long-standing condition that has gone unexplained by the NHS was very clearly explained to me by Nick. I look forward to receiving my new hearing aid! ...One week later - the aid was delivered on time as promised and after a comprehensive fitting / instruction session with Nick I was delighted to hear the soft tick of the living room clock on my return home!

I had Nick Clive check my ears today. The service was excellent. His main concern was my wellbeing and protecting my hearing. I had a complex ear problem not just wax, he ensured I had a letter to show my GP to enable me to obtain a hospital referral. Thank you Nick

* ReSound’s figures: up to 30 hours maximum with no streaming, 24 hours typical including several hours of streaming. Expected operating time depends on active features, the use of wireless accessories, hearing loss, battery age and the sound environment (ReSound datasheet). Battery life can vary by use.

† GN’s own studies with Hörzentrum Oldenburg (Jespersen and Rubachandran, 2026; Jespersen, Heeren and Quilter, 2026): 80% of participants rated the intended speaker most audible with ReSound Intelligent Focus compared with one other premium brand with DNN denoising; 24 participants in the second study. Manufacturer research, competitor unnamed. No independent study of Sensia has been published yet.

‡ Intelligent All-Around is available at Tech Level 9 for the ReSound Sensia microRIE style (ReSound). On the Sensia 7 microRIE the deep neural network is a programme the wearer switches on; the RIE 61, RIE 62 and the custom styles have no deep neural network.

§ Hands-free calling requires iPhone 11 or later, or a listed iPad, with iOS or iPadOS 15.3 or later, or a compatible Android device (ReSound). Not available on the CIC or the battery ITC. Auracast broadcast audio requires a venue equipped with an Auracast transmitter and a compatible phone with Bluetooth 5.3 or later.
